The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Citizens’ Academy is a 12 week program designed to give participants an inside look at law enforcement. During the academy, students will meet weekly to cover a variety of topics providing awareness of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office functions, community involvement and law enforcement education.
Mission Statement:
The Citizens’ Law Enforcement Academy of Franklin County is dedicated to building relationships between the Sheriff’s Office and the community. The combined effort of residents and deputies encourages the best atmosphere for problem solving. Transparency, communication, and understanding between deputies and residents are prioritized through education and collaboration. This mutual effort will assist deputies and citizens as they address the concerns of the community they live and serve in. We are stronger together.

Participation Requirements:
The Sheriff’s Office Citizens’ Academy is open to participants that meet the following requirements:
Be at least 18 years old
Anyone who lives, works or owns property in Franklin County
Must not be a convicted felon or have a lengthy violent criminal history
Students who come under criminal investigation should remove themselves from the program until the investigation is concluded
The Citizens’ Academy is not a physically demanding program. Adults of all ages are encouraged to apply
The Citizens’ Academy typically begins in February and concludes in May. Classes are held weekly on Monday evenings from 6:30PM to 9:30PM at the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Union, MO.

Applications can be emailed, mailed, faxed or hand delivered during our normal business hours Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm (excluding holidays). Applications will be held on file for the next available session.
