There are many instructors available in the Franklin County area. However, the Franklin County Sheriff's Office is not allowed to recommend a particular instructor or to provide a list of instructors for you to choose from. It will be the responsibility of the applicant to research instructors and determine which one will suit their needs. You may find an instructor via the internet, phone book or any gun shop.
Procedures for Instructors to be on file
You will need to provide a copy of your drivers license with current home address -(if your address doesn't match, you'll need to provide proof of residence)
You will need to provide a copy of your training certification-whether it's NRA,Police Officer,etc
You will need to provice a copy of your training syllabus
You will need to provide a phone number in case there are any questions
The information can be emailed or mailed. No faxes are accepted because the photos do not come through clearly. You may email the information to : [email protected]
Once this is received, you will be on file with Franklin County only. If you want to be on the state database, you will need to get your documents notarized and pay a $10.00 fee each year. You can only pay to be online in the county you reside in. To ensure someone is available to assist you, we prefer that you schedule an appointment for Instructor Entry/Renewal to be added to the state database.
